Web design software has changed over the years and now there are a few major companies who's web sites you will need to visit if you are thinking of embarking on a career in web design.

Macromedia were well known for their Director software before the www arrived and were one of the first companies to offer a serious attempt at WSIWYG web design software with Dreamweaver One for web designers. Dreamweaver has come along way since then and is now part of a full suite of tools for the web designer. Check out their web site.

Adobe the creator of Photoshop has also been there since the beginning and like Macromedia now offer a suite of tools to the serious graphic designer. Check out their web site.
